Farewell HMAS Anzac: United We Stand
Farewell HMAS Anzac ⚓ John, Ian, Bin, Peter and Simon share their memories and say goodbye. All five were part of her build and transition into service in the 1990s, and still work together with the Anzac class ships today.
As the first ship of the Anzac class, HMAS Anzac was built at the BAE Systems shipyard in Williamstown, back when it was owned by Transfield Shipbuilding in the 1990s.
On behalf of all Australians, #HMASAnzac was formally farewelled on 18 May 2024 after almost 30 years of serving #AusNavy.
Many of our people have been part of HMAS Anzac’s life over those three decades.
United We Stand.

Nice to hear, though I would have liked to hear a little more about how Phase 6 was going (security aspects considered) (from a former Phase5A contractor manager).
Cool pearlson shiplift, i see in the video
IS THIS COMPLETE BODY OF BOT
👍
Who was it that screwed up manufacturing of the Hobart keel and then tried to blame it on Navantia…..???
Your tax dollars at work, state of the art manufacturing facility that produces nothing……government
Tick tock tick tock
Would be nice if you had HMAS Hunter built by now. Seriously what is taking so long?
This new digital manufacturing process is more efficient which is why it takes as much time to build one hunter class frigate then 10 Anzacs or six Collins class submarines or 3 Hobart class destroyers....fast and efficient process my a**
OUTSTANDING
So how are those hunter class frigates going?
UTSTANDING MATE
Drove one during my stint with 1-149AR with the CAARNG. Fun vehicle. I can see why it is an appreciated and loved vehicle worldwide.
Where are they getting the steel from ????
Suggest BAE and Australian Government enable 24/7 production of Hunter Class to get them into the fleet before 2034! Seems ludicrous it takes 10 years or more to build a warship.
Canada needs more ship yards. Companies that can built ships in record breaking time
This Company is active in Genocide of indigenous people of Palestine STOP BAE Systems. ADAM G. IS A ZIONIST
14 year old and its getting mothballed! What a absolutely waste.
damn might have to give this a go
The keyboard defence analysts in the comments though 😂😂😂
Notice how he had to say dollars because he is too ashamed to say Pound Sterling?
Since they haven't been commissioned into the Australian Navy yet, we ought to have had them built in China; it would have been quicker and better armed.
Just where are we up to now with this project ?
Australia must have ship's that has hypersonic missiles Lazer guidance and long distance of 2000 km away twenty each ship and one hundred tomahawk missiles Lazer guidance and Lazer defence on each ship
Wow its looks simple butvits most powefull ship i wish that philippine can produce same as this the shape is very modern unique disign is un ecplainable ship unticipating untouchable and very advance trchnology system
I love BAE Systems that People are cool without stick at A...👍👍👍👍👍

well done lads!
If 2 more Hobarts had been built as part of the original project, then we would not have had to turn the Batch 1 Hunters (first 3) into super Frigates, half DDGs and Half ASW Frigates. To late now to build more Hobarts,
First
Will these blocks eventuality be part of actual vessels? Or are they more to test the construction and layout befoee building them proper
Thanks for your question @admiralmallard7500. The Hunter Class Frigate Program continues to make strong progress at the Osborne Naval Shipyard in South Australia, the world’s most digitally advanced naval shipyard. The program’s prototyping phase has allowed us to test, trial, and refine technologies and processes, which means the work currently underway on the first Schedule Protection Block - which will be used in the first Hunter frigate - is as efficient as possible, and of the highest quality. We look forward to commencing construction on the second Schedule Protection Block soon.
Because Cheers had a 65,000 yr defence industry right.?!
Hi Jarrad, how far behind schedule and over budget is the project…….you’re not planning to make a video about that? 😅
Over budget means well meaning we to do's have leached onto the project and syphoned a chunk of the money into there own bank accounts. It happens all the time
A 20 billion blowout & the first units not available until early next decade beyond belief.
hopefully this isn't another Zumwalt
@@jimmyrecard6021 well i mean it was supposed to be $30 billion yet now it's over $45B and we may have hit $60B by this point. Not as bad as zumwalt but still bad.
Fantastic progress ! Thanks Jarrad
So more interesting how is the hunter class ships going? This is what we really want to know.

👏 Bravo Bae Systems Australia 🇦🇺
Fantastic to see. Can't wait to see a finished Hunter, they are amongst the most promising ships i've seen in the last decade.
Promising as in we promise we will build one or we promise they will work or we promise the budget will be exceeded and timelines will be exceeded. Navantia would already be finished
@@BeerGutGuy 😐
@@Nathan-ry3yu 😐
Range - On a good day into China, on a bad day nothing. It depends on the ionosphere, sunspots, sunsets, sunrise etc. If it worked perfect we wouldn't have ordered the wedgetail E-7 AWACs, MQ-4C Tritons or mobile AN/TPS-77 radars.
All those platforms serve different purposes.
2 years prototyping is an attempt to cover up BAE's abhorrent delays...... and they don't care. Should have gone with Navantia.
Absolutely not.
Why?, because Navantia done a brilliant job of building the Hobarts?
@@Harldinafter Navantia took over from ASC……yes. ASC is back in charge and the Hunter project is 2 years behind schedule……some things don’t change. If Navantia was selected the first ship would already be in the water.
@@BeerGutGuy You have missed my point, Navantia didn't build the Hobarts for starters they were built by an Alliance of DMO, ASC and Raytheon, Navantia was contracted to provide their design. The Sea 5000 decision was made in late 2018, to suggest anyone could have launched a ship in an incomplete shipyard with only a fraction of the workforce required by a company who has never built a ship in Australia in 5 years is utterly ridiculous.
@@Nathan-ry3yu Anyone who acrtually knows anything about Sea 5000 will be laughing at all the things you got wrong,
" This module could be used in the first Hunter class frigate " When do you actually intend to start construction of the lead ship ?
At the start of May, our Osborne shipyard workforce started construction on the first of four schedule protection blocks, which will be used in the first warship.
@@BAESystemsAustralia O good, thanks for that.
M113 A1 is an front taxi !!!
any more of these done
Our Osborne shipyard workforce has successfully constructed two prototype blocks, and continues to make progress on the three remaining blocks. In building these blocks, the production team has successfully completed multiple vertical constructions. It’s a complex and meticulous process that requires continuous risk and safety assessments to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
